Illustration Friday - Separated

I was doodling on the weekend papers, (how annoying!) and with Christmas looming I have a dearth of time to take it any further so I scanned my paper and as it turns out I quite like the texture the text gives the background. What do you think?

    I agree, it really works. That and the flat cap and cherubic expression makes me think of the little lads who sold news on street corners yesteryear.
