Spring?

Snowdrop

Crocus

Helebore
Hoping the greyness of winter is being squeezed out with these little optimistic little blooms popping up in our garden. We only moved here in November so have little idea what will be surprising us this year. Having said that, I have just found some space and planted a Bramley Apple tree to replace the one that was blown down in last months gales.

Bicycle, Bicycle, Bicycle

I find bikes in all their forms fascinating. So, inspired by these weird and wonderful contraptions I drew a few.............a mountain bike, a BMX, a trike, a road bike, a penny farthing and a shopping bike............. and have created a little fabric collection.

Once I have sampled the designs they will be available on Spoonflower using their range of different natural fabrics.

Edit - Just thought you might like to see some photos of the actual fabrics

Illustration Friday - Popularity

An old illustration for a poster for a kids club. It seemed to fit the this weeks theme for Illustration Friday.

They Draw and Cook

A while ago I drew a little something for Illustration Friday (the word was Prepare). I based the idea on an old family recipe for marmalade. I was in the middle of making some myself; well breakfast in our house isn't complete without some homemade marmalade on toast and a cup of tea!

Sarah Melling left a lovely comment suggesting I should submit the illustration to They Draw and Cook. I have been meaning to do something for this brilliant illustration and recipe blog for a while, it was a good reminder (Thank you Sarah), so I did a bit of a re-jig and you can now find it here.

Alfred's Transformer Fabric Design

Alfred, my youngest son is four years old, he was off school with a cold so he decided he wanted to design a fabric.  Based on his 'Transformer' robot, he drew a transformer car and the transformer robot. What amazed me is how he then takes on board the scanned image, the computer and with very little tutelage, using photoshop, comes up with this. You can see his other designs here.

The Faded Charm of Art Deco

As an exercise, I was trying to emulate the geometric patterning of Art Deco with this design, trying to capture a feeling of the faded glamour of the 1930's.
Then I realised this weeks Spoonflower contest theme is Art Deco, with the stipulation that only four colours are used, so I have adapted the design.
I am not sure whether I prefer this or the original design now.

Edit - A photo of the fabric swatch of the original design.
