Illustration Friday - Sleep

This weeks Illustration Friday word is 'Sleep'.

I couldn't help but post another of my linocut prints illustrating the classic fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea'. The princess cannot sleep because of a pea placed under a pile of mattresses, there by proving she is a princess as she can only sleep on the most comfortable of beds.

The my print is coloured with a collage of beautiful Chinese origami paper.

Illustration Friday - Train

Train being the word for this weeks illustration friday I couldn't resist posting a little linocut of a toy train I did a while ago (the actual print only being 2 cm x 2 cm). I then created a repeat pattern and it's now a fabric, great for kids pyjamas.

Illustration Friday - Prepare (marmalade)

It's that time of year when the beautiful bitter Seville oranges set me off making marmalade, and as this weeks Illustration Friday word is 'Prepare', I was inspired to show the preparations for marmalade using my old family recipe.
....................and I still have another batch to make!

Illustration Friday - Separated

I was doodling on the weekend papers, (how annoying!) and with Christmas looming I have a dearth of time to take it any further so I scanned my paper and as it turns out I quite like the texture the text gives the background. What do you think?

Illustration Friday - Round

A new fabric with a retro feel for my fabric shop and I hope you don't mind but I entered it in this weeks Illustration Friday, 'Round', as I felt it fitted the theme rather well .

Illustration Friday - Scattered

A fabric of scattered spring flowers. One design from my collection called Kitty Jay that I have just completed for my Spoonflower fabric shop. The fabric is inspired by Dartmoor and the sad legend of Kitty Jay, a poor servant girl who died and was buried at a lonely crossroads on the wild moor. To this day there are always fresh flowers like these foxgloves, bluebells, and snowdrops, laid on her grave and no one knows who puts them there.
The haunting melancholic atmosphere of the story and the beauty of Dartmoor is all portrayed in a beautiful song called Kitty Jay by the amazingly talented Seth Lakeman.
I have tried to convey some of the atmosphere of the interwined legend of poor Kitty Jay and the wild beauty of the moor, with my scattered flowers.

Illustration Friday - Perennial

This is a drawing of a hydrangea my lovely man gave to me. It's dried now, to a lovely muted lilac colour and sits on the shelf above my desk.

It also inspired this fabric design. It is printed onto silk available from my Spoonflower shop. I am so pleased with it and am making it into scarves with hand rolled edges,

Illustration Friday - Gesture

For you!

I have been playing with this image and turned it into a fabric design thinking that it might make some sweet retro curtains or bedding perhaps.
Once I've checked a sample you will be able to buy it, but it will take a few weeks before I can do that. Bear with me.
